Avowal

It’s raining as I write to you today. The pathways are covered in puddles and children splash on by. The drooping flowers are beginning to perk up, as the ground moistens from the springtime rain. They look so sad when it has not rained for days. I’ve begun to wander along the riverside and wonder whether traveling away to Paris is what was best. I often fancy sitting riverside and watch the water bubble and splash. It is in these moments by the river that I let my memories pervade my thoughts. I let the days back at home wash over me and flood my mind. I remember the first time we went to the river. Clear as the morning dew that water was. We could see the schools of fish, the turtles, the birds, the lily pads...The lilies were so marvelous. I loved watching the sea grass sway along the current…gracefully pulling that same direction.
